Samsung has officially started building anticipation for its next foldable. All signs point to the long-rumoured Galaxy Z Fold8 finally getting a wider design.

After months of leaks and speculation, the company has published a series of slightly strange teaser videos across its social media channels.

These give the first official hints at the upcoming foldable. Samsung doesn’t mentions the Galaxy Z Fold 8 by name; however, the messaging leaves little doubt about what it’s trying to highlight.

Across six teaser clips, Samsung repeatedly focuses on a wider silhouette. The company pairs the visuals with taglines including “A New Shape” and “A Bold Stroke.”

It’s a not-so-subtle reveal but one that lines up neatly with months of rumours. These rumours suggest a version of Fold 8 will ditch its tall, narrow proportions in favour of a wider outer display.

That would mark one of the biggest design changes to Samsung’s flagship foldable in years. While previous Galaxy Z Fold models have packed impressive hardware, many users have found the narrow cover screen less practical for everyday use.

In contrast, a wider aspect ratio could make typing, browsing and using apps without unfolding the device feel much closer to using a conventional smartphone.

Samsung hasn’t revealed any hardware details just yet, and the teasers stop short of showing the device itself. Still, the company’s decision to centre the campaign around the foldable’s shape suggests the redesign could be one of its biggest selling points.

The next generation of Galaxy Z foldables is widely expected to be unveiled on July 22. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 will likely be joined by the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 8.

For now, Samsung is keeping most of the details under wraps. Even so, the teaser campaign suggests the official announcement isn’t far away. If the rumours prove accurate, the Fold8 could address one of the biggest criticisms of Samsung’s foldables. In addition, it may give the lineup its most noticeable design refresh in several generations.

After years of iterative updates, a genuinely wider Fold could end up being the change many prospective foldable buyers have been waiting for.
