Yes yes, it might be the fancy new Z Fold 8 and 8 Ultra that are winning headlines – but if you’re looking for a standout budget Samsung phone, this is the deal for you.

Right now, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus is available for a discounted price of $679.99, down from its list price of $999.99.

That’s a welcome $320 saving that works out at 32% off one of the most refined phones Samsung has released in years.

Our expert Chris Hall reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and called it a genuinely refined phone, praising the display, the design and the power on offer for anyone who wants a dependable daily driver.

That refinement shows up most in the design, where Samsung has slimmed the frame to 7.3mm, trimmed the weight to 190g, and kept the Armor Aluminium frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP68 water resistance expected of a flagship.

The 6.7-inch AMOLED display peaks at 2700 nits and runs an adaptive refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz, and Samsung’s ProScaler technology sharpens lower quality photos and video so they look noticeably better on a screen this sharp.

Behind that display sits a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens, with night mode kicking in automatically to keep low-light shots looking natural rather than artificially brightened the way some phones do.

The one area that still shows its age is the telephoto lens, which sticks with a 3x optical zoom while rivals like the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL now offer 5x, which is a small gap Chris noticed clearly when testing zoom shots side by side.

None of that dulls the experience where it matters most, since the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset paired with 12GB of RAM makes the Galaxy S25 Plus feel fast and smooth in daily use.

Samsung backs the Galaxy S25 Plus with One UI 7 on Android 15 and a commitment to seven years of OS updates and security patches, a promise matched only by Google in the Android world.

The Galaxy AI features layered on top are less convincing, and Chris Hall found them easy to ignore rather than essential, but that hardly undermines a phone this well built and this comfortable to use every day.

Anyone upgrading from a Galaxy S23 Plus or older, or moving up from the smaller Galaxy S25, will find plenty to like here, and at $679.99 the Galaxy S25 Plus finally carries a price tag that matches how good it actually is.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus is a good phone that will suit many buyers. It offers a great display, great design, a good camera and it’s really powerful. Not much has changed from the Galaxy S24 Plus, however, so while the experience is good, it’s hard to recommend as an upgrade if you have a recent device.

  • Great design that’s lighter and slimmer

  • Loads of power

  • Great display performance

  • Great software update promise

  • AI is oversold and not that interesting

  • 3x optical telephoto now feels old

  • Not much has really changed
